Structure and Workflow

Factview is built around a structured workflow. Financial data is imported, processed, and then presented in reports. The different components of the application are logically connected.

1. Dossier​

A Dossier is the foundation of Factview. A separate dossier is created for each organization or entity.

A dossier contains, among other things:

  • The organization's master data.

  • Fiscal years.

  • Linked Import Sets.

  • Report Structures.

All further data processing takes place within this dossier.

2. Import Set​

An Import Set contains the financial data imported from the accounting system.

Data can be imported using:

  • An Audit File.

  • A connection to an accounting system.

  • An Excel template.

The Import Set contains the General Ledger Accounts and transactions for a specific financial administration.

3. Dataset​

A Dataset is a collection of data for a single fiscal year within an Import Set.

Each fiscal year therefore has its own Dataset.

Datasets are used in reports. When opening a report, you select which Dataset (fiscal year) should be displayed.

4. Report Structure​

The Report Structure determines how General Ledger Accounts are grouped and presented.

Within the structure, accounts are organized into categories, such as:

  • Revenue

  • Expenses

  • Assets

  • Liabilities

The Report Structure forms the basis of all reports.

5. Report (View)​

A report, referred to in Factview as a View, combines:

  • A Report Structure.

  • A selected Dataset.

  • Specific report settings.

This creates a dynamic view of the financial data.

Factview includes several types of views, including:

  • Standard Reports

  • Structureviews

  • Excelviews

  • Managementviews

6. Dashboard​

The Dashboard is the central workspace where open reports are displayed.

From the Dashboard, you can:

  • Switch between reports.

  • Compare reports.

  • Drill down into figures.

  • Perform financial analyses.

The Dashboard is the final stage of data processing and the starting point for financial analysis.
